College Coach (not application coach)

My daughter completed her freshman year at a private college, took a gap year during the pandemic, and is now re-thinking her college pathway. She is still enrolled at the private college but is considering transferring to a UC or CSU. She's pretty confused at this point about what she wants and how to get there (and also feeling demoralized, TBH). I just looked for college coaches in the archives, but most of them seem to be admissions counselors as opposed to someone who can help her identify her goals and what kind of campus might be a good fit and provide some guidance on the transfer process. Any recommendations?

Hello,

My daughter is working with Lea at lea [at] greatchoicescollege.com

She spends a lot of time exploring interests, passions, and aptitudes with students. Then looking at schools and programs that might be a good fit.

Good Luck!

I'm a college professor and have guided and mentored many students over the years.  I'm offering advice, not services.  She sounds like around 80 to 90% of my students and my own two daughters.  Has she talked to college counselor or talked to anyone at the career center where she has been taking classes?

The state has a web site which might help  https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/cg/cc/careercounsel.asp

Depending on her interests, the problem you are going to have with a counselors and career centers is job and careers rapidly changed over the past decade.  In my opinion even more so over the past 5 years.  The value of a college education is highly debated.  Has she taken any classes at a community college?  This is one of the roles a community college service to our society.

Does your daughter have any interests?  Encourage her to take classes at the community college to explore.

Best of luck.
