You may want to try a Venturing Crew. There is one in Piedmont, Oakland, and Alameda. It is a coed group, related to Boy Scouts of America. Very open and accepting. Lots of quirky teens find their niche here. Lots of mentoring and responsible leadership from the adults and older kids. I think they welcome 14 through 20 year olds. https://beascout.scouting.org
