Best schools for gifted kids

I'm curious if anyone has advice on what elementary schools are best for gifted schools. Are there gifted programs at any of the public schools in Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito? What public/private schools have differentiation that meets the needs of gifted kids?

Have a look at Montessori Family School in El Cerrito! We considered Albany and Berkeley public schools and a number of private schools when searching for an elementary school for my gifted daughter a couple years ago. We came to the conclusion that MFS was by far the best fit both academically and socially/emotionally. The Montessori method of letting the child take the lead, working at their own pace, and naturally exploring the subjects they are passionate about is a great fit for many gifted kids (and others). But also the mixed age classroom allows gifted kids a better chance of finding academic and social peers while also being able to work at grade levels above what they would find in a traditional classroom. We landed on MFS for this reason, and it's proving to be an excellent choice. My daughter is happy, engaged, and thriving there.

We have been looking for schools for the past year for our highly gifted son and I am saddened to say we didnt find any in east bay. We looked at 10 different schools (private and public) and couldnt find a match or afford a house in that city. During our search we had toured GATE Academy and really liked it. Initially we had disregarded it due to the distance but have now decided that its the best option. Commuting from east bay in the morning is horrible (we did couple of test drives) however there are families who drive from east bay to San Rafael. We are still going through the admission process but have decided to move to San Rafael once his admission is confirmed. Agreed that we havent started yet but I have heard from GATE families (6 different families) that they are truly equipped and trained to teach asynchronous learners. Wish we didnt have to move but we really didnt find a good school for gifted kids.
