Berkeley High Latin Program

How have the recent parent and student overall experiences been with the Latin program at Berkeley High?  My child is a freshman and has been underwhelmed (no grammar lists, no verb conjugations) but we're hoping it improves at the higher levels? Is it still the well respected program it once was?

RE:

We too were surprised at first by the way Latin is taught at Berkeley High. It is taught more like a living language, think Spanish, versus memorizing cases, declensions, etc. You can find out more about Living Latin on the website of the BHS Latin teacher John Piazza. I think they get to the same place at the end, i.e. being able to do the translations on the AP exam. I wish there was a more of a balance between the traditional method and Living Latin, but our son (a 10th-grader) really loves his Latin class.
