Anyone have experience with Summit Center for neuropsych testing?

Hi everyone,
We’re considering using Summit Center (in Walnut Creek) for neuropsychological evaluations for our kids, 8 and 10. We’re hoping to get a deeper understanding of how they learn—both strengths and challenges—so we can better support them at home and school.

If you’ve worked with Summit, I’d love to hear:

  • What was your experience like—either with the assessment process or follow-up support?
  • Did the results feel useful and actionable?
  • Did your child feel comfortable with the evaluator?
  • Any tips you’d share if we move forward with them?

Appreciate any thoughts or recommendations—feel free to DM me if you’d prefer to share privately. Thanks so much!

We just had a great experience with Amy Feldman at Summit Center for an ADHD evaluation for one of our daughters. My husband is a child psychologist and we specifically chose Summit Center because of his positive professional experiences with them (e.g., consulting re: mutual clients). The scheduling process was easy; although we were initially quoted a long wait time, they had a cancellation and we only ended up waiting a month or so. Our daughter felt immediately comfortable with Amy, was in a great mood afterward and said she had fun, and looked forward to her second appointment. We received the report quickly (within a few weeks after the last appointment) and the follow up session with Amy was very helpful. Feel free to reach out directly if you more specific questions.

Would wholeheartedly recommend a neuropsychological evaluation through Summit Center. Our child (then in sixth grade) was evaluated by Dr. Katherine Eng and loved her. I found her to be very kind and smart. The resulting written evaluation was thorough and actionable, and it was incredibly helpful to have actual diagnoses to help us understand our child's brain! Obviously, it is expensive, but we felt it was well worth it to get firm answers instead of wondering what is going on. At the time, Kaiser had diagnosed ADHD but then walked it back, so we were unsure what to do with that. We also suspected ASD. The evaluation showed ADHD, ASD, and high IQ, none of which we would have known for sure otherwise. Although my child has not needed accommodations in school yet, I'm glad we have the evaluation in hand for when that likely becomes necessary. Scheduling, etc. was also very easy. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Our kid did a neuropsych evaluation at Summit in 2021, when he was 7. It was expensive, but it was a helpful start in figuring out what makes him tick. He was very comfortable with the evaluator. The evaluation was useful in that it confirmed some things we had suspected, and helped us get into some programs for gifted kids that have been a great source of support over the years. On the other hand, at the end of weeks of testing we were just given a big report with no explanation and no offer of follow-up support. We then had to affirmatively request an appointment to talk to the psychologist about what the report meant and what we should do next, which I found a little odd. They also completely missed our son's autism, which wasn't picked up until another psychologist assessed him last year. Overall I would say it was fine, but for the money we spent, I was a little underwhelmed. Good luck.
