Seeking extra driving training for 16 yo new driver

Our 16 yo child just got their license, but we live in Oakland and don't feel great about their lack of driving experience and the many challenges of driving here. Can anyone recommend a source of additional driver's training that we could explore? Our child has already done the state-required 6 hours with an instructor and they passed their licensing test. So we're looking for something additional and open to ideas and hearing about others' experiences.

We'd be particularly keen to hear about any driving instructors who would be willing to work with our child in our car, which is a stick shift.
