Inspire Behavioral Learning: Call of the Wild Nature Camps: Saturdays & Fall Break

Summer & Holiday Camps Now Enrolling
City:
East Bay
Ages:
Kinder, School-Aged, Adults

Call of the Wild Camps are now open for registration for nature camps on the second Saturdays of the month this school year! Register and save on a multi-session series or register for a single Saturday.

Fall break day camp in Oakland's redwoods is also coming soon for registration.

Inspire's Call of the Wild outdoor nature camps are for young hikers, curious naturalists, eager readers, budding writers, and nature-inspired artists to enjoy a fun combination of learning and play outdoors. At camp, kids aged 5-10 take a breath of fresh air away from screens, hike, explore, connect with nature, read and write, create art, learn, play, make friends, and more!

At Inspire Behavioral Learning, we believe in learning by doing, engaging the whole child - head, heart, and body. In our nature camps, we combine education and recreation:

  • Enrichment in biology and language arts
  • Kindness for campers and animals
  • Enjoyable exercise on hikes and in play!

Grades and Ages: K-5th grade, ages 5-10

Small Groups: 8 kids with a 4:1 student: staff ratio or 10 kids with 5:1 ratio.

Nature Camp Activities: kids enjoy hikes and nature walks, go boating, spot wild animals, explore and learn amazing plant and animal facts, play entertaining perspective-taking games, read and craft their own stories with wilderness themes, create and act in skits, nature journal, go on scavenger hunts, create nature-inspired arts and crafts, enjoy free play and nature-themed field games, deepen their sense of wonder for nature, become eco-conscious, eat healthy food, develop executive functioning skills to become hike leaders, strengthen stamina, make friendships, and more!

Second Saturdays of the Month: kids explore different parks and science museums in the East Bay, such as Lake Chabot, Shorebird Park, Roberts Regional Park, Joaquin Miller Park, Chabot Space and Science Center, The Lawrence Hall of Science, Tilden Park, Dimond Park, UC Botanical Garden, and Lake Merritt.

Fall Activities: fall campers in the Oaklands redwoods also explore flora, fauna, and fungi in the rainy season, explore nature-themed autumn holiday books and the role of animals in holiday folklore and fables, learn about fall season survival and adaptations for plants and animals, enjoy funny stories celebrating Thanksgiving with sensitivity toward animals, do nature-themed Native American Heritage Month activities, and create fall-themed arts and crafts. Kids also learn about animal rights, compassionate choices to challenge speciesism, and perspectives on vegetarian and vegan lifestyles and Thanksgiving.
