Acupuncture for kids

I’ve posted before seeking resources for my highly sensitive / deeply feeling kiddo. We’ve tried many therapies and strategies for helping him with emotional regulation but are still struggling to find something that works, especially since he’s so young (almost 4). Acupuncture and reiki are next on my list. Has anyone tried either one for their kids and, if so, any practitioners you’d recommend? Thanks very much.

Acupuncture for kids (Jul 1, 2025)

Hi there-

Our teen loves his Reiki practitioner. She is great with neurodivergent people/kids and wrote about her approach here:https://www.bapnap.com/post/effectiveness-of-reiki-for-young-children-w…. Not sure what age range she works with, but she totally "got" what my kid needed, and he's only had wonderful experiences, emerging balanced, grounded, and happy. She checks in with me before and after each of his appointments. Her name is YuFang Chien. She practices at BAP at 1229 Solano Ave, - as far as I know only on Sundays. https://www.teachersvoices.net/who.

We go to Grow Family Acupuncture for my children, and me! We all love it, and Rachel is amazing. There's a lot she can do without needles for the little ones.

I have 3 kids with similar issues and I started taking them to an acupuncturist when the middle one was 9 and having a lot of trouble with emotional regulation. It was immediately helpful for all 3 of them. I cannot recommend Janet Thompson at Inspire Acupuncture highly enough. https://www.inspireacu.com/ She is great with kids, extremely knowledgable, patient, thorough, kind, understanding, and caring. She has a warm, calming energy that was immediately reassuring to me and my kids at a time when their sensitivities and disregulation were a lot to manage. My children all loved going to see Janet and appreciated how much better they felt after each treatment, including my kid who is otherwise needle-phobic. Good luck! Hope it's helpful!
