Family Sanity: Special Event: Self-Care for Moms and Dads
Are you the parent of a teen or young adult struggling with mental illness? Have you spent years caring for your challenging child and feel like you have neglected yourself?
Parents in these situations feel years have been taken away; marriages break up; friendships and family relationships often suffer.
If this describes your situation, please join us for "A Day to Breathe" lead by Shelley Karpaty at a private home in the town of Sonoma from 11am-4pm.
Shelley Karpaty, a long-time Family Sanity member, (aka Spicy Soul Mama) who is the parent of a young adult with psychosis, now living in a version of recovery, wants to share what has helped her with us. She has designed a day-long retreat for parents who have teens/tweens and young adults who have problems ranging from ASD to various mental health conditions.
Shelley, who will lead the day, has studied meditation and other healing practices from some of the most well-known teachers in the country. She is calling this unique day "A Day to Breathe." We will meditate, do some journal writing, have a leisurely wine country lunch and share our experiences being parents to challenging kids.
