  • Infant room at Tudorka Tots

    Sep 22, 2022

We are considering Tudorka Tots on Campus Dr for our 6-month-old. We had a good impression from the orientation, but became a little concerned after reading the licensing reports and violations (ex. site lacking water due to a burst pipe without parents being informed). Are there any parents who can weigh in with their experience, particularly in the infant room? We looked at other daycares but Tudorka was the only one with availability and hours/location that worked for our family.

Our 15 month old has been at Tudorka Tots since he was five months old and we’ve had no safety concerns there and will put our next baby (due March 2) there as well next year. Sometimes I wish their communication was better with parents eg our son got COVID there in March and we had been informed another child got COVID but then it wasn’t clear how widespread the infection was until we got an update in august that 9 kids total got it. There are also some extra fees/weeks that they are closed that I missed when signing up that I wasn’t crazy to learn about but most importantly my son has been happy and safe there everyday and I get an update at the end of the day on how his day went plus some photos and videos during the day a couple times a week.

Hi! My son is currently in the infant room at Tudorka and has been since January of this year, when he was 4.5 months. To be honest, we were unaware of the burst pipe issue - and there have been some other snafus with licensing in the past 6 months. Actually, one of them was caused by the licensing inspector catching my son sleeping on his stomach (he rolls over to sleep on his stomach every time, not sure how they expect Tudorka to stop him from doing that). Anyway - besides that, I have no qualms about the safety of my son in Tudorka's care. The infant teachers really seem to care about him, and we get cute videos of "circle time" and such many days. It took him a few weeks to get used to it, but he seems perfectly happy every afternoon. No daycare is perfect, I'm sure, but my husband and I are satisfied with Tudorka and have no intention of moving him to another daycare. Hope this helps.

My child attended tudorka tots, although not in the infant room.  I really liked it and the only reason I switched to a different preschool was distance from my home.  Some things I like about the center:

    -a diverse student population

-very sweet and warm children; my child was always greeted with multiple hugs when they arrived

-when seemingly every preschool director in the east bay was making toddlers wear masks, the TT preschool director, with her international outlook and common sense noticed 'hey! the entire rest of the developed world is not forcing two year old babies in diapers to wear face masks, and the WHO does not recommend it before age 6! For this conviction of hers, I am forever grateful

-my child says that she got to interact with the teachers a lot

-cheaper than many other preschools offering full time care

I didn't observe any deficiencies with regards to childrens' safety or comfort.

  • Hi, We are considering placing our baby in the infant care at Tudorka Tots on Campus Drive. Most of the reviews I have found online seem to be from a number of years ago. Does anyone have some recent experiences they can share?

My son goes there and loves it. He started in the toddler class though so I can't speak directly to experiences in the infant class, but I can say that the teachers in his class really care for him and it has been a great experience for him. It was his first experience in care outside of the home, so it was a big transition and it went much easier than I expected because he bonded with his teachers so quickly. The site director Mia is very friendly and good with communication. One thing that was really important to me, is that you never see teacher's on their phones around the kids. I live right next to Chatham ( can see their outside play area from my windows) but send my son to Tudorka, because I see all their teachers on their phones constantly.  I definitely recommend them and I'm happy to talk more if you have more specific questions.

I don't know if this is recent enough, but my son started in the infant class at Tudorka in March 2016 when he was 6 months old and stayed until February 2017 when he graduated to the toddler class.  He had a great experience!  The infant teachers were all kind and caring.  They greeted my baby and me warmly when we arrived each morning.  Miss Mia, the site director, is very knowledgeable and organized.  Even though she is responsible for the entire site, she always had details on what happened in my son's day whenever I asked.  Because my baby had to transition to napping at the daycare, Miss Mia and the other teachers would rub his back until he fell asleep.  (Sometimes that took quite a while).  We also loved that Tudorka provides warm and nutritious meals, cooked in house.  Pretty early on, my son saw what the older kids were eating, and wanted solid foods instead of purees.  The Tudorka teachers (especially Miss Wendy) were good at keeping me updated on his progress.  After my son learned to walk, he would jump out of my arms in the mornings, and go knock on the inner door for breakfast, which is a testament to how much he enjoyed his time at Tudorka, as well as the growth, confidence, and independence that he learned while in the infant room.

April 2014

We toured the new Tudorka Tots location, near Mills College, and are excited to be starting our 3 year-old and 3-month old there. Renata & Francois did a great job with the facility. It is bright and spacious with lots of windows, and a play yard out back with areas for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Our 3 year-old went to Tudorka's center on Mountain Blvd for about 2 years. She loved it there, and we were very happy with the teachers, healthy food, curriculum (pretty lightweight for toddlers - things like ''ocean week'' and ''world music week''), and facility. We transferred her to another daycare this past summer, but that hasn't worked out as well as we'd hoped. So we're going back to Tudorka - an easy decision since we already know they provide great care.

It's not easy to find a center that takes infants through pre-K, has a thoughtful preschool curriculum, and is this affordable. We feel like we hit the jackpot here. I'm eager for my 3 year-old to have lots of preschooler playmates - hence my recommendation here:) I think they have space for a few more infants & toddlers, and can accommodate up to 20 preschoolers.
