The award-winning Young Women’s Choral Projects of San Francisco is quickly becoming recognized as a world-class choral organization for young women. At YWCP, choristers from diverse cultural, educational and socio-economic backgrounds find their voices as singers, artists and women in a nurturing musical environment that empowers them to achieve artistic and personal excellence. YWCP creates high-quality choral music which fosters the development of each young woman both musically and personally, as well as teaches important life skills like dedication, commitment, and working in community. YWCP offers classes and ensembles for girls ages 5-18.

My daughter has been in this program since 2017 and has moved through the training choirs from the youngest up to the oldest. This choir is truly exceptional and has taught her so much more than singing. She has advanced music theory skills and can sight sing. Additionally, she has learned self discipline and feels a part of a strong community. Despite the long drive from Berkeley, this continues to be worth it! Highly recommend!

I noticed she likes music and music theory

My daughter sings in the Young Women’s Choral Project and has learned a ton from their weekly music theory classes. It’s a great community. It is however, in SF. We drive into the city for it and deem it worthwhile.
They have mid season auditions coming up:

My daughter joined Young Women's Choral Projects (YWCP) when she was in 7th grade, and it has been an extraordinary experience for her in many ways. She had previously participated in the San Francisco Girls Chorus for five years. She and other young women were drawn to join Susan McMane's newly created chorus, that is now in its 6th year. My daughter joined the first year it opened, and she's made friendships with girls from all over the Bay Area, has toured nationally and internationally to New York, Boston, Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia to perform high-level performances, and sightsee and appreciate world music with international choirs. The YWC choir has won an impressive collection of awards in its young life, and it recorded an amazing CD ("Rejoice!") at Skywalker Ranch that is a collection of holiday music, available on Itunes, if you want to get a sampling of the superior sound that Susan McMane is capable of teaching these women. Coming into the city from Berkeley, my daughter has commuted on her own most of the time, with other members of the chorus. If you are looking for a high-quality, no-nonsense extra-curricular activity for your daughter who loves music, this is well worth the time and money investment. Financial aid is available. Diverse socio-economic representation is consciously sought for this organization. The organization has grown to include very young girls from age 5, all the way up through high school, and there are individual schedules and teachers for every level.
