*BEST* Treatment for wiry hair

Hello

I am a 59 Year-old white woman. My hair is fine / straight/ wavy and still pretty thick. There is changing texture from grey - patches in front and sides are like wire/Brillo. It is quite a look!! About 2 months ago, I had a highlight/semipermanent to start to blend more into my grays.  My hair is fried. What kind of conditions/masks can I use to restore some order? Currently experimenting with Kerastase. Barely making a dent.

Fellow Brillohead here. Several years ago I got a Marulo hair condtioning treatment under a hair dryer at the Paul Mitchell School in Pleasant Hill. My hair was like silk afterwards. Being a beauty school the entire process can drag on for a bit because they have to have the teacher check everything. The actual Paul Mitchell salons probably do the same treatments in a more expeditious manner. Probably the only time in my life that I ever had soft, silky hair.

Hello, I have dealt with a hair fried situation after coloring my hair. I used Olaplex Hair perfector No3. Best product I found when I was coloring. Now I don’t color, tired of the hair recovery process!

My fine hair also got more wiry as I got older. I get highlights every 2 months but I think it's my natural mature-lady hair texture more than the color that makes it wiry. I use L'Oreal Elvive Total Repair 5 as a leave-on conditioner. It's inexpensive and works great on wet hair, or as a touch-up when the hair goes crazy. I only wash my hair with shampoo if it's literally dirty, which is practically never. Otherwise if I really need to get it wet, I use a conditioner only. I really like Kevin Murphy rinses and I also use Killer Waves to get my hair back into order when I wake up.

I relate to hair not being what you want it to be! Olaplex helped my hair become the healthiest that it's been since childhood, but I use Kerastase Blond for maintenance because it is fast and makes my hair shiny. I wash my hair about twice per week so that it doesn't get dried out. My hair - naturally honey blond, grey strands still blend in so no artificial color (yet) - used to be unevenly frizzy and frazzled (I swear due to a 7th grade perm in the late-80s, for my hair had always been stick-straight prior to that). Now my hair is smooth and not frizzy. I use Olaplex products 0, 3, 4, 5; initially, over a year ago, I used Olaplex exclusively for a month to improve its health, but now maintain bi-weekly, with Kerastase between weeks. I liked their hair masque least, but maybe didn't leave it on long enough, so I don't bother with the mask. I am very low-maintenance - I just comb my hair with a wide-tooth comb (narrow teeth can create frizz) and put a dab of No. 6, 7 and / or 9 for gentle styling. I didn't like the equivalent Kerastase pre-wash or styling products due to the artificial scent and they didn't seem as effective, whereas Olaplex barely has a scent. Also - perhaps the products your coloring stylist used were too harsh for you.

My hair is different than yours yet I think this might do the trick.  I have thick curly hair but the greys come in wiry and dry.  And like you, now that I'm coloring it only gets dryer.  I get natural formaldehyde-free keratin treatments every three months.  It is amazing.  My curls are loose, and my hair is soft and shiny.  I bet a keratin treatment would transform the wiry hair to be soft and either straight or with a loose curl.  It is pricey and an every three month commitment but I love the result so much.  My hairdresser is the owner of Golden Salon, Rose Bouvier.  You can get her info here:  https://www.goldensalonberkeley.com/
