Outdoor Kids Occupational Therapy: Volunteer Mentorship Hours for Pre-OT Students
Volunteer Mentorship as a Group Assistant with Outdoor Kids OT!
Are you interested in a career in pediatric occupational therapy? Come volunteer with us at Outdoor Kids OT! You'll gain valuable experience working alongside a pediatric OT and get pre-OT observation hours for your grad school applications. (And we LOVE writing glowing letters of recommendations for our amazing volunteers!)
Unlike traditional pre-OT volunteer roles that might have you just observing from a distance, we offer volunteer mentorships where our volunteers serve as group assistants helping with our outdoor therapy groups for neurodiverse children ages 4-12. You’ll learn about working with children in a respectful and neurodiverse-affirming way, and work closely with our expert licensed pediatric OTs to play a vital role in helping children develop self-regulation, build friendships, and connect with nature.🌳
We offer groups in Berkeley (Tilden Park), Oakland (Joaquin Miller Park), and San Francisco (Presidio, McLaren, and Glen Canyon Parks). Volunteers are asked to commit to one 2-hour afternoon session per week, with breaks for holidays.
