Luna Dance & Creativity: Afterschool Dance Classes - Tuesdays and Thursdays

Creative Dance 4-6 yr olds Tuesday 3:45-4:30pm

Children expand their range of motion, body articulation, and spatial awareness as they learn to solve movement problems and create simple dance phrases. They increase their knowledge of how to use the elements of space (line, path, level, size, and focus) and energy to express ideas or feelings. No prerequisite. 

Creative Dance 6-8 yr olds Thursday 4:15 - 5pm

In this class students discover new and exciting ways of expressing themselves. Dancers create short movement phrases, strengthen their sense of agency in their own bodies, and hone their artistic decision making in solo and group explorations. This class dives into the elements of dance: space, energy, time, and the moving body. Students will expand range of motion and dance vocabulary as we develop coordination, take risks, and cultivate a community rooted in inquiry and belonging. 

Dance Improvisation 7-9 yr olds - Thursday 5:15pm - 6pm

In this class, students learn the structures, forms, and creative value of Improvisation. Incorporating dance fundamental elements, movement invention is encouraged as dancers create phrases, make choices within an improvisational score, and synthesize their life experiences into short studies. This class offers a rigorous and encouraging community where students can safely take-risks, share reflections with one another, and hone their artistic voices. This class is a good starting point for students 8+ and an appropriate challenge for younger students (7-8) who have taken Creative Dance with Luna.
