Inspire Behavioral Learning, LLC has nature camp employment openings for Call of the Wild Camps this summer! Join us in leading the next generation of environmental stewards and nature lovers as a Camp Counselor, Assistant Camp Director, or Camp Director.

Our day camps make learning fun for kids in grades K-5, who connect with nature, hike, read, write, explore, learn, and play in forests of the Bay Area! Nature camp staff lead children ages 5-10 in nature exploration, environmental education, outdoor play, and enchanted forest art, reading, writing, and vegan theme weeks! Inspire's outdoor educators use emergent curriculum and experiential learning to open a wondrous door to the great outdoors as our living classroom in forests.

Job Openings: 

  • Nature Camp Counselor for Summer Camps in Berkeley, Oakland, and Cupertino/Los Altos Hills
  • Assistant Nature Camp Director for Summer Camps in Berkeley and Cupertino
  • Nature Camp Director for Berkeley and Oakland Camps

Schedule: Mondays-Fridays, 8:25 AM-4:35 PM. Training is Monday-Friday the week before each camp season starts. Thursday, July 4th is a day off.

  • Oakland Summer Camps: Jun 10-Jun 28 at Joaquin Miller Park, Jul 1-Aug 2 at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park (training Jun 3-7)
  • Berkeley Summer Camp: Jun 10-Aug 9 at Tilden Regional Park (training Jun 3-7)
  • Cupertino/Los Altos Hills Summer Camp: Jun 24-Aug 2 at Rancho San Antonio County Park and Open Space Preserve (training Jun 17-21)

Qualifications:

  • The #1 quality in all of Inspire's employees is a passion for both teaching and learning, for the best educators are the best learners.
  • At least 1 year experience teaching, instructing, directing, or supervising K-5 level camps or equivalent experience.
  • Experience hiking trails of moderate difficulty on hilly and uneven terrain up to approximately 6 miles a day.
  • Must already possess unexpired CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must already possess a valid CA driver's license and your own reliable transportation to forest sites in Oakland, Berkeley, or Cupertino.
  • Demonstrate a fun and engaging leadership style with high energy, creativity, adaptability, spontaneity, dynamism, and positivity.
  • Eco-conscious skills with a demonstrable love of nature and the outdoors, life sciences, biology, environmental science, outdoor education, or environmental education.
  • Health-conscious skills with a demonstrable love of active and healthy living.
  • Enthusiasm for making education relevant to children's lives.

Compensation: $19-22/hr DOE Nature Camp Counselor; $23/hr Assistant Nature Camp Director; $24-26/hr DOE Nature Camp Director

Classification: Non-exempt employee; seasonal; temporary. Successful hires may be invited to return for future seasons.
