Berkeley Rose Waldorf School: Kindergarten Opening for Fall
Increasingly, parents are seeking spaces for their children to shelter from the demands of our digital lives, focusing on the natural development that comes with free play. Waldorf Education® is very structured, with balanced "in-breath" and "out-breath" periods of structure and freedom, teaching the invaluable lessons of work and rest, necessary for health and all kinds of learning. Everything that happens in the preschool and kindergarten prepares the young child for optimum health socially, intellectually and physically so that they can ease into academic work in the First Grade with joy, focus, and imagination.
Our two year kindergarten (equivalent of TK and K) begins at 4y3m and continues into year 6. Children benefit from the mixed age Kinder experience no matter their birth order at home, learning to emulate the skills of older children or to be helpful and supportive of the younger children in the class. Children spend their days in artistic and domestic activity, such as soup and bread making, watercolor painting, finger knitting, sewing, wood working, jumping rope, and imaginative play indoors and out. Teachers lead puppet shows which teach rich imagining and vocabulary acquisition, leading to learned self-regulation and focus, our greatest asset and most sought after commodity these days.
We have some limited openings for Fall 2025 and are happy to arrange a private tour for you or to orient you to the school via phone call or Zoom. Reach out to schedule. Learn more about our programs on our website. Nursery and Kindergarten. License number 013423057.
