There is nothing in the BPN archives on Over the Rainbow Preschool in Montclair. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who can share experiences or opinions on this school. Thanks!

We love Over the Rainbow Preschool in Oakland. Our son has been going there for almost 2 years. Deborah is wonderful and so are Susan and Bob. Deborah is a mom of grown children and a teacher (she taught Kindergarten) which works out really well for the kids and for the parents. Susan is there every morning with Deborah and teaches the kids Kung Fu on Tuesdays. A music teacher (Monday or Thursday), Spanish teacher (Wednesday), and a storyteller (Friday) come in once a week. Bob and Deborah play with the children in the afternoon. I recommend Over the Rainbow for parents who want a play based preschool.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Over the Rainbow pre-school in Montclair. I'm wondering if the program seemed to offer a variety of learning challenges for the kids. In other words, I saw their workbooks and puzzles/games, but wondered if there was much put into things like cooking or gardening. Also, how was your experience with Debra, the director? Thanks.

I highly recommend Over the Rainbow. Deborah is a very attentive teacher and so is Susan. My son has been there since last year and he will be there until he goes to Kindergarten next fall. She has workbooks for the kids and engages them in different activities throughout the day. They do art projects, play games, read stories, etc... and they have free play. There is a music teacher, a dance teacher, a Spanish teacher, and a storyteller that come to the school. Susan teaches them Kung Fu. Her husband Bob spends quite a bit of time with the children as well. Deborah taught in the Oakland Schools for many years and she has children of her own so she brings both her motherhood and her teaching experiences to the class. rs
