Seeking lawyer for legal advice for owner move-in eviction

Can anyone recommend a lawyer to walk us through the owner move-in eviction process for our ADU? Our family is expanding and need the extra space to accommodate helping hands from extended families and/or an au pair. Thank you.

Hi, I would check with BPOA, Berkeley Property Owners Association. Super helpful organization to join for many reasons, including their advice on this as well as attorney recommendations.

I am a veteran survivor of rent board battles, and although I am an attorney, I wish I had not been so overconfident that I could handle tenant matters by myself. i would heartily advise calling one of the attorneys listed through the Berkeley Property Owners' Association.

I used Fried and Williams for a really difficult tenant situation last year. It was not an owner move-in, I was evicting a roommate, but they really know their stuff. they aren’t cheap but got the job done. One Important thing to know is that if your ADU is not illegally permitted residence it could be virtually impossible to evict them, And even if it is a legally permitted residence you will likely need to pay them a lot of money to move out.
