Tutoring for neurodivergent learners/learning disabilities
Hello folks, I live in Pittsburgh, PA, and teach via Zoom nationwide. I lived in Berkeley and Oakland, CA, and had a private tutoring practice for 4 years in Walnut Creek (I worked inside The Listening Center for Dr. Deborah Swain). I have been tutoring via Zoom since 2020 and, initially reluctant, I now LOVE IT!

I work with students who have difficulties with reading, reading comprehension, and math fundamentals.
I have extensive experience with the following:

Affectionately known as Miss Shannon, I myself identify as disabled and bring my distinct experience, rich with connection and understanding. I am a different kind of tutor because I “get it.” This work is enriching and healing as I know what it is like to walk the path of difference--to experience people who make me feel deeply seen and understood and those who have an agenda and make me feel othered. I worked for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes for 4 years in their Washington, DC and Berkeley, CA clinics as a tutor and lesson plan developer (clinician and consultant).
