Former Special Education Teacher Offering Limited Discounted Reading and Spelling Interventions

Hello Berkeley families! I am a former Berkeley Special Education Teacher, starting a private practice for reading and spelling interventions.

I am working to become certified in the Barton Reading and Spelling System, and in order to do so I need to tutor two students through the first three levels of the program. I am searching for students to tutor in reading, spelling, and writing using the Barton system. 

What I am looking for:

• One to two students (ages 5 to adult) to tutor who have a history of reading and spelling struggles
• Willing to do tutoring in an online setting
• Able to commit to tutoring two hours per week

What I am providing:

• Reading and Spelling interventions at a discounted price of $20 per hour (compare to $60-$120 per hour for a certified Barton tutor)
• 10 years of Special Education teaching experience in California public schools and a Masters in Special Education
• Research- and evidence-based interventions using an Orton-Gillingham based system, proven to work for learners with dyslexia (see https://bartonreading.com/ for more information)
