IN-DEPTH ASSESSMENT FOR READING, MATH, SPELLING ABILITIES

If your child is struggling in class it is important to pinpoint the foundational causes: skills, information, and concepts they are missing.   This allows us to design a clear plan to meet their specific needs. 

With over 4 decades as a specialist for children with learning differences, I'm now focusing on helping parents identify just what their child needs for more success in school.  I use the Feifer Assessment of Reading (FAR) as the main tool when reading or dyslexia is a concern.  The FAR assesses 15 academic and cognitive skills underlying a child's ability to read well, providing great information to determine just what instruction a child needs to become a successful reader.  My math assessment looks beyond calculating to understand how the child reasons with quantities, what number concepts are lacking and make learning new math skills hard, how memory is impacting math performance, etc.  

My services are for parents concerned about their child's learning, who want to understand what is in their way academically, but are not looking for the intensity nor expense of a neuro-psychological evaluation.  Really understanding the child's needs allows us to create a plan for targeted instruction.
