Seeing Math - Tutoring

Academic Subjects

I'm passionate about finding individual paths to make learning math easier and more fun. I've been teaching art for over 25 years, but in the last 15 years my own personal studies have focused on math and making math art.

My tutoring style is a blend of enthusiasm and patience. Behind the patience is an excitement to see if I can find new ways of explaining concepts so that they really make sense to my students. Making the concepts match how a student thinks lets the steps they need to do logically flow in their mind and then they can concentrate on accurately solving the problem. For the times when memorization is needed, I use my artistic skills to help students develop visually fun 'cheat sheets.' By helping a student to understand what they need to do and how to create tools for themselves, math problem solving stops being a chore and becomes a fun challenge.

If you are curious to see my math artwork, please check out my website: www.cubesandthings.net. "Cubes and Things" is the name of my 3D coloring books, I am the author of “Polyhedra: Eye Candy to Feed the Mind” (which uses my art to teach the math of those geometric shapes), and I do art math workshops called Polyhedra Parties.

Please contact me if you are curious about any of the above. Thank you for reading this!
