I REALLY like our mechanic, Daniel Santos at RC Imports on Fairmount in El Cerrito. We've been going to Daniel for years with an old, old Acura, and we trust on his honest opinions for assuring safety while also giving us the best value.
He also recently helped us evaluate a used car for a friend. If an item could fall into the ''deferred maintenance'' column, he'll let us know. But if there's a potentially dangerous condition, he won't compromise.
Best of all, RC Imports is right next to El Cerrito Plaza BART for handy drop-offs and commuting. Call 526-8084. Highly recommended! Jeff

I highly recommend RC Imports for your auto repair needs. The owner, Daniel Santos, is totally honest and very fair. All of the mechanics are smart and capable. I have been going there for years and have always had great results. For three years, we've been taking our Prius to Daniel Santos at RC Imports in El Cerrito. He's factory authorized and takes great care of us. I know it's not in Berkeley, but he _is_ right next to El Cerrito Plaza BART and the Ohlone Greenway bike trail, so it's a really convenient location for traveling after you've dropped off your car. I usually just pop the front wheel off my bike, drop the back seats in the Prius, and lay my bike in the back with no trouble. Call him at 526-8084. Good luck! -Jeff

We LOVE Daniel Santos at RC Imports. He's been servicing our cars (old Acura, Honda van & Prius) for about 10 years. His staff is friendly, and he always gives good advice about what kinds of service we need (or, more importantly, can avoid). We've referred several friends there, and they in turn have referred their own friends, so he's got lots of cred as far as I'm concerned. He's on Fairmount in El Cerrito, right next to El Cerrito Plaza and the BART station, so it's super-convenient to drop your car and use BART. His number is 526-8084. Jeff

I would like to recommend Daniel Santos at RC Imports on Fairmount Avenue, next to El Cerrito Plaza Bart Station. Daniel is very honest and knowledgeable, and he specializes in Toyotas and other imported vehicles. His location is also very convenient for those of us who take BART into the city for work. We have a great shop that takes care of our 98 Passat wagon and I've always appreciated their style and work. The owner is very clear and patient about explaining everything that needs to be done and why. He has often told me that something doesn't need to be done right away. One time he even checked the car for me when the ''check engine'' light came on, didn't charge for the computer check and told me to go to the dealer because he felt that it was under warranty. (It wasn't, of course, according to them, but I couldn't drive it back to my mechanic,so I had to have the work done there.) I wouldn't call him inexpensive, but about average. I keep using him because he has always treated me with respect and honesty. He takes care of other foreign cars too. I just recommended RC Imports for Subarus and now I'll do the same for Acuras. They are great - very knowledgeable, friendly and completely trustworthy! RC Imports is on Fairmount Ave in El Cerrito (call 526-8084 for an appointment). They are located right by the El Cerrito Plaza BART station (and the #15 bus that goes to Center/Shattuck). They work on Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas and Subarus. Happy driving!
