  • Looking for a reputable, ethical and responsible breeder of Cavapoos (cavalierXpoodle) OR Havapoos (havaneseXpoodle) - who do the necessary health testing. I am trying to avoid puppy mills, brokers and people that just want to make a quick buck. I am hoping that you can help. If you have a recommendation of a breeder or have other resources for me to explore I welcome them.

    Thanks

We're awaiting the birth of our cavapoo who is coming from Golden Heart Doodles in Modesto. We don't have the puppy yet so can't actually vouch for the dog (!), but Anne does all the testing and has been super nice, responsive and communicative.

  • Our family is looking to make an addition to our family in the form of a hypoallergenic, non or low shedding dog. Specifically we are looking for reputable breeders of doodle mixes. If you know of any breeders that you feel comfortable recommending, we would love their contact information. Advice on the process is also welcome.

And yes, we have considered rescue adoption, but based on our family's complicated needs we have decided that that is not the best path for us.

Melinda, who owns Darby Park Doodles in Brentwood, is a great dog breeder. She is very ethical and knowledgeable about doodle mixes. She breeds labradoodles and cockapoos. I have one of her cockapoos. He is 11 years old and is a great dog.  He gets along with everyone. He loves adults and children as well. Doodles are wonderful family dogs. Good luck with your search.

  • Hi,

We have 2 boys and are thinking of getting a Goldendoodle. We are new to the area and are keen to hear from anyone with breeder recommendations in the area. In particular we would love to hear from anyone who has had a great experience, solid contract, who might have visited breeders and can vouch for the experience personally. If anyone has had a bad experience then we'd love to hear too.

    Any other tips gratefully received!

    Thanks!

We got a Goldendoodle from Almond Blossom Doodles in Modesto.  We had a very good experience, and got a wonderful dog.  He is an F1B, so basically 3/4 poodle and 1/4 golden.  He really does not shed (which is not a guarantee with any of the doodles, but is more likely with the F1B rather than F1).  We got a "mini" and he is fully grown and about 25 lbs (was on the larger size of the litter).  He is a very smart dog, has been easy to train in all respects, and has a friendly disposition.  He is also super cute (people have stopped cars to ask where we got him).  Good luck.  Be prepared for the "you should adopt" backlash.  We considered that and chose the breeder route based on the types of dogs available.

Poodle/schnauzer mix

May 2002

Anyone have any experience with having a schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle mix)? We are considering getting one for a pet and would like to hear of other's experiences. Also, recommendations for schnoodle breeders would be helpful. Thanks for your help! B A

Although this doesn't address your question, I grew-up with a schoodle and it was a wonderful dog for a child. Ours was about 35 lbs. and grey. He was patient, calm affectionate and everything you could ever hope for in a dog. Good luck. gerry
