  • Dear All,

I am new to Berkeley and Iam looking for a stable near by for advanced horseriders, for my 15 years old daughter.

Where would you recommend to look for?

    Kind regards

    Edyta Agata

Our teenager has ridden at three stables in the past few years: Redwood, in Oakland (which is right across from Kenilworth); Caldecott in Briones, and Kismet Farms, which is also out there. Her best experience has definitely been Kismet - experienced staff, options for horses.

Looking for horse boarding in the East Bay

Feb 2008

I am looking for horse boarding in the east bay. What's the best, least expensive option? What happened to the oakland city stables? Thanks Jessica

Pastures are less expensive than stables. In Oakland the least expensive stable my husband knows of is Piedmont Stables on Redwood Road. City Stables is slated to reopen in the summer '08, but it will be a competitive stable, which means a stall may cost as much as $400.00 to close to $500.00 for stall with paddock, per month. Hayward and South Contra Costa, around Byron & Brentwood cost less. wife of horse afficionado

My daughter rides at M Stable in El Sobrante: 2400 Valley View Rd,El Sobrante, CA 94803,(510) 223-6201. It's a struggling rescue facilitiy and I think you can board for as little as about $275/month. Call the number above and ask for Lou. They are working hard to improve the place. Only takes about 25 minutes to get there from Berkeley. Pat
