Advice about Charter Schools

Public charter schools are schools that are "chartered" by the State of California and approved, though not administered, by the local school district they reside in. They are free for all state residents, and any child who lives in California can apply to any charter school, regardless of where the school is located. Some schools give preference to city residents.

  • Charter high school for ASD kid?

    Hello all
My kid has just been diagnosed as ASD level 1, and I am trying to explore all options regarding high school, which he will start next year. In addition to the private schools like Orion, are there any charter schools that cater to these special needs kids specifically? We are in Berkeley, but it's my understanding that we could apply to any charter school in Alameda county. Is that correct?
    Many thanks!
