Africa Safari Travel w. Teen/Young Adult

Before my kiddo goes off to college in the fall, I'd like to take them on a trip to an African safari (and other African sights), but I'd like to make sure it's eco-friendly, good to local communities and safe. Small group tours are fine. It doesn't need to be luxurious. Would love to hear recommendations -- reputable tour companies, locations, etc. -- from the BPN community. Thanks!
