Tutoring and Coaching - AP Stats, High School Math Classes

A graduate of Oberlin and Harvard, I have been teaching and mentoring youth in the Bay Area for 16 years, including 11+ years now as a Math teacher at Bishop O'Dowd High School.  There, I have taught AP Statistics, Finite Math, Algebra 2/Trig, Algebra 1, and Geometry, and have also tutored PreCalculus and AP Calc.  Before becoming a full time high school teacher, I gained a depth of experience as an SAT and ACT teacher for three different test prep companies, and then went on to start my own tutoring business.  I have tutored hundreds of students in test prep, all levels of high school Math, college app essays, and study skills.  

Students, parents, and administrators have highlighted certain strengths in my approach: I explain concepts very clearly, I am patient and good at building connections with students, and I am attentive to the psychological aspects of learning, modeling and teaching a "growth mindset."  Several of my test prep students have gone on to earn perfect scores after working with me, and parents have often told me that my tutoring was helpful in ways that went beyond the test or class.
