Transformative Tutor

Hello,

I've been tutoring for 15 years - in NYC, Shanghai, now from the countryside of NC, and looking to move to the Bay area - and thought to include a recommendation from a student's parent, below.

My daughter’s writing tutor has some capacity to take on new students. Max teaches languages (English, French, Chinese), school math, school ELA, homework help, and test prep. All ages from grade 2 up to 12. Instruction is remote.

Max describes himself as reliable, communicative, engaging (for the student), and effective, but I would say that description undersells him. Every tutoring session was followed by a very detailed report back to me along with clear instructions for homework. And the results for my daughter were transformational.

Max worked with my daughter throughout 6th grade and a little bit of seventh grade. He helped her develop skills to overcome writers block, organize her ideas well and just become confident in her writing. She went from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to being an excellent writer who is excited by, rather than stressed out from, writing assignments.
