Cooking Classes for adults

We're looking for a reasonably priced cooking class that would be comfortable for a man who wants to learn some basic cooking skills.

If you like East Asian cuisines, I've had good experiences taking classes at Piedmont Adult School. It looks like Chat Mingkwan has a lot of 3-hour Saturday classes that are $90 each (each class is a one and done, you just go for one Saturday). His recipes are great - things like healthy stir fry, dim sum, various apps and curries, etc. The dishes for that class are listed in the course description. It's been a while, but I think you basically work through a few recipes with Chat's guidance so you come home comfortable making those recipes at home. I still cook dishes that I learned to make 10+ years ago! He also has a basic knife skills workshop one of the Saturdays.

The Fall Options start in September. They may have additional teachers/courses in the winter, etc.

The City of Albany (near El Cerrito + Berkeley) has cooking classes in their community center. I took a class on Asian Vegetarian cooking and enjoyed it:

click 'register online' and then go to 'adult classes' - https://caalbanyweb.myvscloud.com/webtrac/web/search.html?module=AR&cat…

It was like $65 plus maybe $20 for materials, and you had to bring some stuff.

Kitchen on Fire offers a number of cooking classes of various lengths, but they are a bit pricy. https://www.kitchenonfire.com/

Albany's rec. department is offering a basic knife skills class (one session) in September. They have some other cooking classes, too, but focused on particular cuisine. (See page 20 of theActivity Guide) https://www.albanyca.gov/Departments/Recreation-Community-Services/Acti…

+ 1 for the City of Albany options, I have taken Indian cooking there and enjoyed it. I believe West Contra Costa Adult Ed also has some basic cooking classes.
