Support Groups for Postpartum Depression?

Hello-- I'm looking for support groups for birthing parents experiencing postpartum anxiety/depression/PTSD. I'm already seeing a 1:1 therapist I like, but I feel that a group could be really helpful in pushing against the isolation of new parenthood and PPD. I'd also be open to a more general postpartum support group that made intentional space for processing the darker/harder feelings (yes, I'm also full of joy and wonder and pride in my baby, truly). My baby is crawling, so we've aged out of most of the postpartum groups. Groups geared to queer and/or solo and/or BIPOC parents would be sweet too. Thanks in advance for suggestions!

I am so sorry you are going through this, and it's great you are taking care of yourself!

I don't have direct personal experience with this, so I'm not sure if BPN permits it, but I know Postpartum International lists many resourecs, including support groups - both in person and online - on their website. There is a search page where you can enter "group" and your location and then filter in many ways.

I'm so sorry you're going through this!! My provider when I had my first baby provided a virtual PPD support group for free. It's open to non-John Muir patients if covered by your health plan. Link here: https://www.johnmuirhealth.com/health-education/classes-and-support-groups.html. From my own perspective, once I finally understood that I had ppa/ppd and sought help, I was well on the way to getting better. Really hope you will be able to find healing soon!
