UCSF Medical Center Research: BrainChange research study recruitment
We are looking for teens 14-18 years-old who will get a chance to undergo either a free 12-week mindfulness training, in which they will learn self- regulation skills (breathing, yoga-based movements, meditation), or a free 12-week psychological education training that can help them better regulate emotions. They will be randomly assigned to one of the groups, which will meet once a week on Tuesday afternoons or Saturday mornings for 1.5 hours online via Zoom. Our next round of classes will begin on August 26 or August 30 and run for 12 weeks through the mid-July.
Participants will also undergo two MRI scans, one before and one after the training, and complete online mental health questionnaires about their well-being. MRI scans will take place at a state-of-the-art UCSF facility at Mission Bay. Participants will receive up to $535 in gift cards for completion of the study.
