Hey there! My name is St. John Barned-Smith and I'm a reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle. (Here's my author page)

I'd like to preface this by saying I'm happy to speak off the record!

Recently, I've started working on some immigration-related stories and I'm hoping to connect with families who are looking for or currently employing nannies.  I'm curious to know how the current political climate has affected Bay Area folks with kiddos and childcare. Specifically, how has it affected trying to find nannies to care for your children? Has it gotten harder to find caregivers? Worries about ICE detaining nannies? Other issues that I haven't considered.

I'd love to talk to families and/or caregivers. If you're willing to speak to me/share your story, please get in touch.
