Awaken Counseling: Couple Counseling: Finding Each Other Again
Many couples get stuck not because love is missing, but because different parts of each person are trying to protect vulnerable hopes, fears, or old wounds—often while unintentionally triggering the same in their partner. This is where Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Parts Work can make a real difference.
EFT helps you both recognize each other's deeper emotional needs and longings—the ones that often drive conflict or distance. Parts Work brings in another layer of understanding: we gently explore how internal "parts" may be clashing or activating one another, leading to blame, withdrawal, or disconnection. Together, we create space to recognize these patterns, support your nervous systems, and strengthen the grounded “Self” inside each of you—so you can move toward calm, clarity, and real connection.
In our work together, I draw from the Gottman Method, EFT, and embodied practices to help you feel more present, steady, and able to respond to each other with care. Many couples find that as these old patterns soften, they rediscover surprising new layers of intimacy, trust, and partnership.
In addition to couples counseling, I offer family therapy and individual therapy for adults of all ages. You can learn more about me at Awaken Counseling. My office is on Piedmong Avenue, and I also offer Zoom sessions for anyone in California.
