Arbor Rockridge vs. Duck’s Nest 41st
Curious if anyone else has picked between these two preschools. We are deciding where our 2 yo should start in August and having such a hard time because both seem like amazing options with great feels. Marisa and Nancy seem like incredible administrators - and the children seemed so happy during both visits. We also live in between the two. Slight difference in cost and hours (5 vs 530) but otherwise seem similar with play-based learning? Super appreciate any intel!!

I’ve had two kids at Duck’s Nest on 41st (next year will be our fifth year and sadly, our last) and we couldn’t be happier with the school. Wonderful teachers, low teacher turnover, a strong roster of substitutes that the kids all know well, a great parent community with lots of activities, and always focused on the best interests of the kids. Not to mention the beautiful classrooms, outdoor space, art studio, weekly music class, and chickens! In a play-based school it seems the environment is very important to the kids’ exploration of the world.
It is a big school so the early days can seem hectic with all the kids running around the yard but if you watch closely you’ll see the kids are happily engaged in their own play with a smaller group of friends and have the positive opportunity to interact with new friends of other ages in other classes.
The school leadership is incredibly strong and deeply engaged with every child. I’ve seen them bring in specialists to help kids and families and don’t expect every school provides those sort of resources.
I can’t say enough good things about Duck’s Nest. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.
We've had our kiddo at DN for 3 years and are obsessed with Nancy. She's so thoughtful, receptive, and focused on the kids' well-being. We can't wait to send our second child there when they are old enough! Can't say enough good things.
