Wilderness Torah: Outdoor Jewish Education for Youth Grades 2 - 12
Hi everyone! I would love to share our youth programs here, in case you have one or more kiddos who loves getting their hands dirty outside. (Or even another family you know!).
Wilderness Torah offers pluralistic Jewish, nature-based education and community for youth and their families, as well as mentorship for children and teens. We welcome families from all faiths and backgrounds.
B’hootz integrates caring mentorship and nature-based exploration with Jewish spirituality, tradition, and wisdom.
Small groups are led by passionate mentors who create experiences that guide children through the nature-based rhythm of the Hebrew calendar. For youth entering Grades 2-5, B'hootz meets 12 Sunday mornings throughout the year.
One B'hootz parent said:
"What’s really special about this program is the way that it includes everybody. And my kids—they don’t even think of it as inclusion. They just see a group of people that want to play together."
B'naiture is our award-winning two-year program supporting both youth AND their parents/families in the adolescent transition. For youth entering grades 6 and 7, B'naiture meets on 12 alternating Sundays and Wednesdays.
One B'naiture parent wrote:
"My kids are so different and B’naiture has truly been a space for them to be seen as individuals & meet the challenges in their own ways. I love the opportunities to be in parallel learning on the Fall camping trip & on parent evenings"
Shomrim (“Guardians”) is a year-long leadership program where teens immerse in wilderness, gain life skills, build peer community, and learn Jewish values that guide them through life. Youth meet one a month outdoors for monthly fire circles, as well as 2 backpacking trips at the beginning and end of the program.
One Shomrim participant wrote:
"I would say that I have grown a lot. Because of all of the help that I’ve been given, I feel like I know myself better as a person and know myself better as a friend. I would definitely recommend it to other youth because it’s a very safe space for me and it just made me feel right at home."
If you are curious about any of these programs - enrollment is now open, but closing soon! Please reach out if you have questions, or apply through the link on our website.
