UCSF Medical Center Research: UCSF BrainChange Mindfulness Study

Researchers & Authors Seeking Parents/Kids
City:
SF Bay Area
Ages:
School-Aged, Preteens, Teens, Young Adults

We are looking for teens 14-18 years-old who will get a chance to undergo either a free 12-week mindfulness training, in which they will learn self- regulation skills (breathing, yoga-based movements, meditation) or a free 12-week psychological education training that can help them better regulate emotions. They will be randomly assigned to one of the groups, which will meet once a week on Wednesdays or Fridays for 1.5 hours online via Zoom. Our next round of classes will begin at the end of May and go through mid-August.

Participants will also undergo two MRI scans, one before and one after the training. MRI scans (about an hour and fifteen minutes long) will take place at a state-of-the-art UCSF facility at Mission Bay. Participants will receive up to $410 in gift cards for completion of the study. Please contact us if you have any questions, would like to know more, or are interested in participating!
