Our mission at Tilden Preparatory School is to provide an engaging, accommodating, inclusive, and individualized learning environment in which students gain confidence in themselves as learners, face challenges, and achieve success while mastering college preparatory course content.

About Tilden Prep

• Founded on the principle that all students learn differently, we have developed an individualized learning program to build student confidence and mastery. We are fully WASC accredited with two campuses in Albany and Walnut Creek.
• We offer both remote and in-person class options.

Our Students

• We serve a diverse community of students from different communities in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and represent a range of racial, ethnic, academic, and neurodiverse backgrounds. 
• Often students with ADHD or other learning differences are a mismatch for classroom style learning; we help these students shine academically and re-ignite their love of learning when taught one-to-one.
• We have many twice-exceptional students who benefit from acceleration in some areas combined with support in more challenging areas.
• Tilden can provide an individualized program for students who are navigating health and/or emotional challenges and have a history of extended absences or credits to recover.
• Students who want more social opportunities while also enjoying a customized, one-to-one education often thrive at Tilden Prep!

Teaching Method & Curriculum

• To fulfill our mission to provide students with an engaging, accommodating, and individualized learning environment, Tilden analyzes each student’s strengths and preferred learning modalities.
• Most courses are taught 1:1, while some are taught in small groups.
• The individualized teaching style utilized in our classes allows students numerous opportunities to develop and articulate their own thoughts, interests, and opinions, both verbally and in their written work.
• We offer a wide range of courses-- from those that fulfill high school graduation requirements to those that supplement and enrich high school curriculum, such as Advanced Placement and Honors level courses.
