Learn about strengths, weaknesses, common misperceptions, and common misdiagnoses related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as commonly co-occurring disorders. Why might an actual diagnosis be important? Why do we no longer differentiate between disorders formerly known as “Autism” and “Asperger’s Syndrome”? What is the difference between school determination of meeting criteria for eligibility for special education due to Autism (AUT) and a medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? What do assessments involve at different ages (who, what, where, and when)? Dr. Hancock will also discuss non-typical presentations of ASD (gifted, AFAB, PDA) as well as address challenges and interventions across the lifespan.

Dr. Lisa Hancock is a licensed clinical psychologist and autism specialist certified through IBCCESS, who conducts assessments as well as therapy with children, adults, and couples who have diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Dr. Hancock also has experience with neurodevelopmental, learning, processing, anxiety, and mood disorders; ADHD, dyslexia, math and writing disorders, visual and auditory processing issues, and more. She specializes in working with twice-exceptional individuals (those who are gifted and have concurrent learning or developmental challenges).
