Poetic Playlist: Creative Writing Class for Teens: Enrolling Writers Ages 12-15 - Online Class
Poetic Playlist is a weekly, online class for girls and gender-expansive youth. We are currently enrolling writers ages 12-15. This writing group, comprised of 4-6 writers from around the country, is for those who love music and writing (in any genre)! Each week, we unpack works from celebrated songwriters who have used their voices and words as a means to challenge, inspire, and comfort us. We’ll discuss one to two songs, and then write in response to a prompt connected to the song in poetry, prose, or any other genre/form that writers feel compelled to use. Afterward, we share work and give positive-only feedback. Writers learn how to analyze lyrics for elements of craft, strengthening their own writing along the way. Each semester, we enjoy class visits from musicians who share their creative processes in writing for song.
Class times: Sundays, 1:00 pm PST - 3:00 pm PST (online)
