Kita on Kains: Need Summer Substitute Assistant: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Jobs & Volunteer Opportunities
City:
Albany
Ages:
Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers

We are looking for a Substitute Assistant Teacher for our daycare for Tuesdays & Thursdays throughout the Summer, starting in July with interest in ongoing substituting  opportunities in the future throughout the upcoming School Year (if possible).

Kita on Kains is a warm and welcoming German bilingual daycare located in Albany/North Berkeley, serving children ages 1 to 3.5 years. Our mission is to nurture each child’s curiosity and development through a child-centered, play-based approach, where teachers guide, inspire, and model kindness every day.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Substitute Teacher to join our team on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you love working with young children and are fluent in English, we’d love to meet you. German language skills are a plus, but not required for this substitute position. There will also be additional substitute teaching opportunities starting in mid-August as our new school year begins.

In this role, you will supervise and engage children ages 12 months to 3 years during playtime, meals, and naptime, ensuring their safety, well-being, and enjoyment. You will lead creative, age-appropriate activities that spark curiosity and support development. Promoting a positive environment by addressing conflicts with empathy and modeling respectful behavior is an important part of the job. You will support daily routines, including diaper changes, potty training, and personal hygiene, and help maintain a clean, organized classroom while working closely with our caring team to uphold high standards of safety and care. Open and warm communication with parents about their child’s progress and daily experiences is also expected.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion and patience for working with young children. Experience in early childhood education or care and a solid understanding of early developmental needs are important. You should thrive in a collaborative, supportive setting. CPR and First Aid certification are required, or you must be willing to obtain them upon hire. You must also be willing to complete a TB test and required immunizations as per licensing regulations.
