Do you know a teen who needs help transitioning back to school after treatment? We can help! Here's an example of how:

When 16-year-old Maya* transitioned home after several months in residential treatment for anxiety and depression, her family and school team were unsure how to best support her return to a traditional academic setting. Though she was bright and motivated, the social and executive functioning demands of daily school life felt overwhelming. So they reached out to Key Collective to see if a mentor could help.

Key Collective matched Maya with a mentor who had personal experience navigating school with a mental health diagnosis. They met at Maya’s home and started small—walking through her class schedule together, practicing mindfulness before morning routines, and gradually building up her stamina for attending classes in person.

Working in close coordination with Maya’s therapist and school counselor, Maya’s mentor helped her develop emotional regulation strategies, complete schoolwork in manageable chunks, and reengage socially with confidence. After a few months, Maya was attending school full-time, even participating in a student club.

Maya's story is one of many Key Collective success stories that show how our in-home mentoring and community-based support can help bridge the gap between treatment and lead to positive, long term transformation.
