Giggles Preschool: Preschool Teacher

Giggles Preschool is a developmental program, licensed for 24 children ages 2-5 in a mixed aged environment. We were founded in 1990 and are located in the Rockridge section of Oakland, within walking distance of the Rockridge BART station.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Preschool Teacher /40 hours per week/ 8:15 AM – 5:15 PM or 30hours per week /9:00AM-3:00PM
Team teaches in a cooperative manner with the other teaching staff.

Creative Person that is able to do various art activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The majority of your scheduled day will be spent standing, walking, bending, lifting, squatting, kneeling, or twisting. The children you will be lifting can weigh up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS:
enrolled in ECE classes.1) A minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units (Child Development including Child, Family and Community and Human Growth and Development) OR someone is enrolled in ECE classes.
2) Live Scan clearance
3) Eligibility to work in the United States and speak English/Spanish
4) Health screening by physician and negative tuberculosis test within the past 12 months
5) Current CPR and First Aide Certification

JOB SKILLS:
1) Develop and provide inclusive, developmentally and culturally appropriate activities and curriculum
2) Familiarity and compliance with DSS licensing regulations
3) Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
4) Must be organized, compassionate, patient, and able to establish a positive and active relationship with parents, children and staff
5) Maintain a safe and healthy indoor and outdoor environment for children
6) Develop and implement conflict management and problem solving strategies with children
7) Apply active listening techniques, childhood development theories and classroom management techniques
8) Communicate effectively, both verbal and written form
9) Supervise and directly interact with children in a warm and positive manner
10) Conduct on-site observations and assessments of all children
11) Maintain appropriate records on children and/or families

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
