Clef Winds Music Lessons: Speak the Music Workshop Berkeley Jazzschool In-person
Clef Winds Music Lessons teacher Solomon Alber will be teaching a music workshop called Speak the Music: Conversational Approaches to Jazz in-person at the California Jazz Conservatory on July 13 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. (This location is very accessible by BART and public transportation)
The Speak the Music Approach is a method that he has been teaching ever since he completed his studies at Berklee College of Music!
Improvisation is the act of spontaneously creating melodies on your instrument, but how do we get to a place where we feel comfortable enough to do that?
Whether you are an advanced musician that has been improvising melodies for many years or you are just starting out playing music but you have wondered if there are ways you can create new music instantly, this workshop will be beneficial for all ages and all ranges of ability levels!
Included in this workshop are games and opportunities to sing or play an instrument together with other participants as we learn about each approach to creating your own melodies.
Feeling nervous about playing something brand new? Rest assured, you won't be doing this alone! We will all be explorers in each unique approach together. This is designed to help provide you with a charcuterie of melody making options. And just like on a yummy charcuterie board, we'll get to try a sample of each one.
There will also be a short time at the end of the workshop to ask Solomon Alber general music questions and learn about joining the Clef Winds Music Lessons Community.
