Hair braiding (singles) for 13-year-old

Nov 2006

My (caucasian) daughter, 13, has long, very curly hair. She wants to get 'singles' - non-corn-row braids. Can anyone recommend a place to go? We live in Richmond, and don't want to spend a ton of money. How long do braids usually last? Molly

I recommend Sherita (college student)cell 510-909-2211. She works on all kinds of hair. She can do singles, and specializes in cornrows. She has been braiding my hair and my daughters hair for a couple of years. She is dependable, reasonable and does a great job. I am always satisfied. You can email me if you have any questions. CM

Braiding daughter's long hair for summer camp

June 2002

Can anyone suggest a place in Oakland/Berkeley area where I can get my daughter's hair braided (that all-over-the head braided look) for a reasonable price? She has hair down to her waist and is going to camp for a month this summer. This sounds like an easy way to keep it tidy for her. --please don't suggest a haircut...been there/done that. Lori

My 15 year old daughter braids hair and could use some spending money. If her hair is long, she would probably charge $50 and will take about 2-3 hours. Em

Braiding for long, straight, thin hair

Jan. 2002

Does anyone know of a place for hair braiding that doesn't cost a fortune? My daughter is paying for her own braiding, so cost is an object. Also, will the braiding stay in long, straight, thin hair, and if not very well, will adding extensions help? Eleanor

Hello, Well I just happen to braid hair. My email address is cmf at unx.berkeley.edu. The going rates for braiding could cost you anywhere from $100 to $200 depending on what type of braids your daughter wants. My supervisor gave me this email because she knows I braid hair as a second job, in the evenings and on the weekends. You can email me and we can exchange phone numbers and talk in more detail. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, Charon.
