Re: Stylist for fine, short hair?
I have fine hair (lots of it, though) and am currently wearing it chin length. I have been getting my hair cut (and highlighted) by Betsy Zamacona at Lucero Salon for the 1.5 years and have been very happy with how my hair looks. The Salon is located on College Ave in Oakland (just south of 63rd Street - it's right next door to Cole Coffee and across the street from Safeway). The # is 420.8795. Shauna

Re: Need a boost in my personal style
Betsy Zamacona at Lucero Salon (College Avenue at 63rd, 510.420.8795) in Oakland next to Cole Coffee has been cutting/highlighting/styling my hair for the last 6 months & I am really happy with my hair. I moved from NYC last year and had the greatest stylist there, so it took me a while to find someone that I liked. The salon is new, but all the stylists have many years of experience. I think she charges $55 a cut (but maybe a little more), but I think its well worth that price and more. The other thing is I can usually get an appointment with less than a weeks notice. Email me is you have other questions. shauna

Re: good hair stylist
A couple months ago I tried a new hair stylist named Maya at a new salon called Lucero. She gave me the best haircut I've received in decades - definitely a great deal compared to all the other salons I've been!! I haven't had a regular hair stylist in years but walking away feeling like I'd gone to a spa definitely made me want to come back. Not only did she give me lots of ideas for what I could do with my hair until we came up with a plan but also put lots of time and energy being a perfectionist. My girlfriend loved my cut so much she's now getting her cuts and coloring done by Maya. Lately however Maya's schedule's been filling up quickly as more people are coming to her for hair coloring but she's always willing to work with my schedule. If you're in Rockridge you should definitely give her a try. David
