Re: Great sleep away camp for 13-year-old boys?
Hi, My children go to a great summer camp called Habonim Dror Camp Gilboa. Habonim is an international youth movement, steeped in progressive values and supportive of zionism. It has been around for over seventy years. There are summer camps all over the world, and the U.S. My eighteen-year old has gone since the summer after 5th grade and will be a counselor there this summer. He's going to Israel with a group of kids from all over North America for his ''gap year'' before starting college, including 3 friends from his elementary/middle school. After 10th grade he went on a summer trip to Israel with Habonim. There he met other kids involved in Habonim from Argentina, South Africa, the U.K., France and Israel. Consequently, he has good friends from all over. (Sacha Baron Cohen was a ''Habonimer'' when he was younger!) The camp is (loosely) modelled on a kibbutz and has great progressive values. Gilboa attracts kids like yours, not especially into sports, creative and interested in the greater world. I can't say enough about the amazing kids I've met that attend. I'd love to talk to you about it. carol
