I've been an East Bay Moms member for several months, and its primary activity is Friday hikes or stroller walks. There are other kinds of outings on occasion, but if you want to meet other moms and dads through EBM, be prepared to hike! Having said that, the hikes aren't too strenuous and are followed by a picnic so that you can chat with other parents. I know several folks with babies the age of mine (15 months) who formed a playgroup after meeting on a hike.
You would probably have better luck joining Neighborhood Moms (527-6667, I think) and advertising through them to start a playgroup of kids the same age as yours. I joined a playgroup started by a woman who advertised in their newsletter, and we're still meeting weekly many months later. Good luck! Richard
