Las Manitas Montessori in Emeryville (North Oakland border) is the place you are looking for!  They are a Bilingual Montessori home-based preschool provided in English and Spanish for ages 2 through 5. We spent a total of 7 years there with both of my kids, who still remember their times there fondly. You can reach them at 415-595-9718 or real_jahleel at yahoo.com. You can also search for their information and glowing reviews on BPN.

This is a long over due recommendation for Las Manitas Montessori. My son is now in middle school and daughter is in third grade but they still remember Jahleel and her family fondly. Both of my children spent their pre-school years at Las Manitas and loved their time there. Las Manitas provided a safe and nurturing place for both of my children. Jahleel and Jorge are also amazing teachers. They went above and beyond for the kids under their care. My kids were well prepared for kindergarten because of Las Manitas. We are forever grateful for our time there and can’t recommend them highly enough.

We love Las Manitas. Our son went there for 2.5 years starting at age 2. The environment is so lovely including the art and the peaceful, wholesome ambiance. Jahleel and Jorge are caring, patient, and nurturing and we have remained friends with them since our son began public school five years ago. Our son learned to write and do basic math early, which prepared him well for school. And the incorporation of Spanish instruction made it extra special. They even have chicken coops in the front yard, which make for enhanced learning experiences. I wholeheartedly recommend Las Manitas.

Las Manitas was a wonderful preschool experience for my 2 daughters. Jahleel is a compassionate, dedicated, and highly-skilled educator. She cultivates a nurturing learning environment, while instilling in children the confidence to be independent. I remember watching one of my daughters at 3 years old consistently take the time to put her shoes on and adhere the straps at Jahleel’s, which was something I struggled with her doing at home. Jahleel takes the time to not rush over activities, giving children time to learn from each other and feel that these are, indeed, important confidence-building steps. Her model of a Montessori, mixed preschool age program works wonderfully. The students learn from others, practice role-modeling, and gain important tools for conflict resolution. Jahleel’s space is clean, well-organized, conducive to self-exploration of toys and materials, but not stuffy. The location of her school is ideal, as it is a home-based school. Daily, they walk 3 minutes to Temescal Creek playground on the same street. There is also a local library nearby that they frequent. I highly recommend Las Manitas!

My son went to this preschool full-time for the last 3 years (2019-2022).  We were so lucky to have found Jahleel and Las Manitas by word of mouth through our friends whose daughter had loved her years in preschool there.  I was sad to leave Las Manitas last month as my son entered Kindergarten.  Jahleel is so dedicated, loving, and kind and the children in her care love their time there.  My son has blossomed and learned so much through her guidance.  She has helped him with his writing and he has a great start on early reading and even early mathematics.  Her space is clean, filled with so many wonderful activities and books.  So many imaginative play wooden toys - my son didn't want to leave to come home most days.  He was constantly leaving with drawings, writing and reading practice pages, and little crafts in hand.  Drop off and pick up was generally a breeze and parking on her street was typically easy, and at times I double parked briefly outside.  She takes the children to the neighborhood library frequently and daily to the city park across the street from her home.  You child will be lucky to be a part of this lovely preschool.
