Hello, I have worked with adolescents and families as a therapist and high school guidance counselor. I focus on helping youth and their families navigate challenges posed by the transition to adolescence, school and college readiness, social stressors, and difficult family dynamics.

I teach mindfulness to teens and elementary aged children in both private and group settings.  Many have found mindfulness to be helpful in cultivating more self-awareness, being calmer in stressful situations, focusing better during tests, fighting less with parents, and sleeping better. See the Oakland DBT and Mindfulness Center for teen group information or contact me to arrange private or small group lessons.  Thanks!

My 17-year-old daughter has attended Sarah's mindfulness for teens class twice and will do so again this fall. She suffers from off-the-charts anxiety, and though she had significant exposure to mindfulness before Sarah's class, she was far more receptive to it in the context of the class. She got into the car after the first class talking about how calm she felt.  The class has helped her make use of mindfulness techniques more effectively than ever.  I have recommended Sarah's class to friends with anxious kids, and hope other teens benefit from Sarah's work.
